More Than 750,000 Pounds of a Popular Baking Ingredient Have Been Recalled in 9 States

If you’re prepping for holiday baking and yet trying to be mindful about sugar like the 130 million Americans who are diabetic or prediabetic, there’s a recall that broke this morning you should know about before rolling up your sleeves for those Easter brunch scones.
Victor Packing Inc., a California-based agricultural company that supplies “a wide selection of California raisins and raisin products, conventional and organic, to ingredient buyers, bakers, re-packers, confectioners, and cereal manufacturers,” according to the company’s site, has announced a recall via the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 34,500 cases of dried cranberries due to a labeling error.
The packaging states that the product contains 2 grams of total carbohydrates, but the recall states this was a misprint. The product actually contains 27 grams per 1.16-ounce unit—a significant difference for consumers being mindful of their blood sugar levels.
It appears the product was first recalled on March 17, the notice was published today by the FDA on the recalled cranberries reportedly distributed to nine states: California, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. The net weight on each case containing 300 units was 21.75 pounds (lbs.).
The products bear one of the following lot numbers printed on its packaging: 255123024, 255123124, 255010225, 255010425, 225010625, 255011725, 255011825, 255012025, 255012125, 255012225, 255012325, 255012425, 255012525, 255012625, 255012725, 255012825, 255012925, 255013025, 255020525, 255022625, 255020725, 255021225, 255021325, 255021725, 255021825
