Chocolate Bar Recall: 2 Brand-Name Products Removed in U.S. and Canada

The countdown has begun for the Easter Bunny to pop by (hop by?) and leave behind colorful baskets of goodies. Soon chocolate bunnies, Cadbury eggs, and Reese’s Peanut Butter eggs will abound—but if you’re gifting a basket with a full-sized bar to a little lucky duck, another kitschy brand is pulling items off shelves.
Popular chocolate brand Tony’s Chocolonley, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall on two of its products in the U.S.: its Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar and its Everything Bar. The reason? The chocolate bars could contain small stones.
The recall affects seven lots of the products, which were distributed online and in major retail locations across the country. Both items were sold between February 7 and March 24 of this year.
If you have one of these Tony’s Chocolonley flavors at home, check the label for the following information:

This recall also applies to Canada. There, consumers should check the Dark Almond Sea Salt bar label for lot number 162697 and the Everything bar label for lot number 4332.
The recall notice states, “A limited number of consumers have reported finding small stones in the product not filtered during third-party almond harvesting and the almond processing process.” Based in the Netherlands, the company notes that the chance of finding stones in the chocolate is “low” and there haven’t been any incidents with the products in the United States, but out of caution warns consumers not to eat the products.
If you’ve bought one of the recalled Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate bars, the company says you can return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement or dispose of it.
